Scarborough and Whitby Area Committee – 5 June 2026

 

Presentation by Yorkshire Water on their investment plans for Scarborough and Whitby and public consultation exercise to shape how the £120m investment is delivered

 

 

1.0       Background

 

1.1          On 23 March 2026 an extraordinary meeting of Scarborough and Whitby Area Committee was convened to focus on the specific issue of bathing water quality in Scarborough’s North Bay and South Bay by inviting submissions and evidence from a range of organisations which have either been actively involved in efforts to improve bathing water quality or whose lives and livelihoods have been affected by this issue.

 

1.2          One of the key stakeholders which presented to the committee was Yorkshire Water which signalled their ongoing commitment to improving bathing water quality in the town through a programme of significant investment in infrastructure which would be the subject of an ongoing public consultation exercise.

 

1.3       One of the actions arising from the extraordinary meeting was to arrange for Yorkshire Water to attend to update the committee on its plans and work programme.
